Terrence Cooper joined the CRIF Credit Bureau team in 2012 and is responsible for driving the establishment and long term sustainability of the credit bureau here in Jamaica.

His expertise lies in credit risk management, account acquisition, portfolio management, risk based pricing strategies and overall business development.

Mr. Cooper is charged with executing on CRIF’s strategic growth strategy as it relates to the delivery and management of value added credit information services. His mission is to empower and support Jamaican financial institutions, credit grantors, SME’s and consumers with a complete range of credit solutions ranging from Analytics, scoring models, auto decisioning, fraud prevention, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining CRIF, Terrence worked at the TransUnion, credit bureau in Canada for almost 10 years, where he held a variety of positions progressing his way up from Account Manager to National Account Executive and then onto Director of Business Development, for TransUnion’s Caribbean operations.

In his role as Director, Terrence was instrumental in setting the foundation for what is now a thriving and successful credit bureau operation in Trinidad & Tobago. His unique understanding of the challenges and requirements of establishing a credit bureau in an emerging economy will serve Jamaica well.

While in Trinidad he implemented strategies to enhance the quality of data being provided, resulting in greater value and broader usage of credit information by financial institutions, and enabling SME’s to gain better access to credit… which he believes to be one of the cornerstones for sustainable economic growth in an emerging economy.

Terrence holds a B.A. from the Toronto Institute of Business, is a member of the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals, and is a frequent guest speaker at the International Mortgage Brokers Association. He is a long standing member of the Credit Association of Greater Toronto and the Credit Scoring and Risk Strategy Association.
